A Moody Wedding

From the desk of: Phoebe Allen

Moody was the whole vibe for this special day for Emilie and Ryan. That word was used daily and in every facet with each vendor. It was such a dream to work towards this design of having no white accents in floral or rentals.

First, let me paint you a picture of the day. We had the most beautiful Boston weather as Emilie and her friends got ready with hair and makeup provided by Alexandra Dale and Melissa Di Tocco at the Newbury hotel and Ryan brunched at Contessa.

Emilie got in her dress and we wandered (well, not really wandered because everything was planned down to the minute!) across the street to her first look with her dad, groom to be and some portrait photos.

We plan out each moment and build in buffer time so that if our couple is feeling up to it, the photographer is in, and the weather cooperates… we take our time and walk around capturing the full beauty of the day.

Meanwhile at our venue, AFH, I had a whole team of AE Staff (8 people to be exact!) on site making sure the ceremony and cocktail space was all set for our guests to arrive.

Now, I would not be good at my job if I didn’t know something is always bound to go awry and it is about how you deal with those moments and move on. Our limo that was supposed to take the immediate family to the venue had left! So thinking on our toes… I drove a handful of people over and Uber came to save the day.

Once everyone was at the venue we kicked of the ceremony! Sweet Thing by Van Morrison played as we processed…

They exchanged their vows, had a reading by Led Zeppelin and a kiss to seal the deal. Emilie and Ryan were married!

We scooted guests into cocktails and meanwhile flipped the ceremony space to the reception… see the Timelapse below!

Guest walked in to a completely different room as we opened up the doors to the reception and they sat down for their meal and continued to the dance party.

The vibe was electric as the band played and guests danced the night away.
