Hi Kelsey!

From the desk of: Kelsey Binder

I'm so happy to introduce myself as the newest hire at AE Events! I've been looking to join a team like AE for a while now, and I'm incredibly excited to hit the ground running at the start of this 2023 event season.

I always love to tell the story of how I found myself in the events industry because it happened entirely by accident. It started with a call from my mom, who, after sharing the normal life details (so-and-so is having a baby, we painted the garage, etc.), struck up a conversation about an engaged couple from my high school. Long story short: my mom ran into the mother of the groom at the grocery store, and after hearing they were in need of a day-of coordinator for their wedding, she signed me up to do the job.

Now let me be clear, dear reader: I hadn't spoken to this couple since graduation day four years before. FurthermoreI was 23 years old, just shy of graduating college, and had never worked an event in my life. It goes without saying that I was mortified, and of course I resisted the idea at first. "I just thought it was such a good opportunity for you, since you're so detail-oriented and creative and good with people!" She laid it on thick, so eventually I agreed. And of course, I ended up loving it.

Now for a few classic "about me" details:

Hometown: Mandeville, LA - Just outside of New Orleans! The majority of my family still lives there.

Education: I studied music at Belmont University in Nashville. I love singing jazz, but have really been missing playing the piano recently. Trying to figure out how to sneak an upright piano into my apartment building without upsetting my neighbors. (:

Background: I've worked in rentals and floral, but I've also been a server (tacos!), a camp counselor, and a nanny.

Favorite Hobby: Currently, it's reading. I have to recommend my favorite book, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, if you love a spooky vintage vibe.

Something else you should know: Unfortunately, I can't stop quoting the Office.

Thanks for spending some time getting to know me, talk soon!
