APPROACH

Here’s the thing about event planning: No two events are ever the same. There are no formulas. Every client is different. It’s what makes our job so exciting—and challenging. And it’s why we approach each project with a fresh eye, and an appreciation for every client’s very individual needs. You want a French feast with a live, Broadway-caliber performance for 1,000? We can do that. Or an intimate, sophisticated birthday party for 10? We can do that, too. And we’ll do it creatively, efficiently, and within budget.

For more than 15 years, AE Events—led by partners Christine Altieri and Jana Gimenez—have been designing and producing special occasion events, covering all aspects from venue selection, event concept, and décor to audio-visual expertise, stage management, and scriptwriting. We think of everything, so you don’t have to.

MISSION

  • To work with you to define your vision and goals

  • To provide highly tailored, detail-oriented service

  • To anticipate problems before they arise

  • To balance profit with social responsibility

  • To respond promptly

  • To build positive, constructive, lasting relationships with our clients and vendors

  • To strengthen your brand, raise funds for charity, and help you throw a great party

LEADERSHIP

CHRISTINE ALTIERI,
FOUNDING PARTNER

Christine lives, breathes (and dreams) events (a not-unwelcome occupational hazard). She’s been throwing parties, both professional and non-, for more than 30 years and for clients that range from young couples planning a 50-person wedding reception to nonprofits throwing fundraisers for thousands. When it comes to event planning, she’s done it all: Catering, floral and room design, event property management. She founded AE Events in 2001 after a stint overseeing the corporate division of a large events firm. She’s known for her go-getter attitude, attention to detail, and quick reaction time; in events, after all, you’ve got to be ready for anything. In life and in business, Christine believes in being open-minded, thoughtful (and available), and to never stop growing. A mom of two grown children, she lives in Brookline with her husband and their 95-pound black lab, where her off-hours are filled with Iyengar yoga, tennis, a novel-in-progress, and planning her next adventure. On the list: New Zealand, Easter Island, Antarctica, the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Southern Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Scotland. She’ll gladly take any recommendations.

Hometown: Stratford, CT
Favorite color: Shades of green
Part of an event I like best: Putting the final pieces of the puzzle together—and seeing the clients’ vision come to life.
Quote that inspires me: “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” —Coco Chanel

JANA EULER GIMENEZ,
PARTNER

Jana is an Alabama native (Roll Tide!), with a penchant for Southern food, a singularly good song, a great big front porch, and, of course, college football. She displays the same outsized enthusiasm for all her work in event design, drawing artistic inspiration from a background in arts production and stage management; she’s also a classically-trained composer with a Masters from the New England Conservatory of Music and still enjoys writing and singing her own songs. Before partnering with Christine in 2006, Jana served as Operations Manager for the Boston Pops, producing hundreds of high-profile concerts and tours a year, including live TV shows on the Fourth of July, appearances at the Democratic National Convention and the Super Bowl, and four tours to Japan. As an event designer, she loves, most of all, bringing clients’ stories to life. She lives in Melrose with her husband, and their musician-daughter.  She loves the Red Sox and Broadway in equal parts, and is a fan of mystery novels, hiking, and cooking—you should try her chocolate chip pancakes.

Hometown: Birmingham, AL
Favorite Color: Crimson Tide red
Part of an event I like best: Every event has an arc to a MOMENT. And in that moment, the story is told. As a lifelong stage manager, I love being a small part of creating that moment for our clients.
Quote that inspires me: “Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” —Mary Oliver

Quote that inspires me: “Two of the least appreciated words in the English language are ‘over' and ‘next.' When something is over, it is over and we are onto the next. And if there was a hammock between those two words, that hammock would be the best definition I know of living in the moment.” —Norman Lear

Quote that inspires me: “When you’re a race horse, the reason they put blinders on these things is because if you look at the horse on the left or the right, you’re going to miss a step. That’s why the horses have blinders on. And that’s what people should have. When you’re running after something, you should not look left or right. Just Go!”
—Jimmy Iovine
