Off the Charts, Boston Ballet Ball 2020

From the desk of Event Assistant Courtney

The 2020 Boston Ballet Ball was truly, Off The Charts! The planning process of the ball is always unique and magical, how fun to plan an event while watching rehearsals in the very next room!

This year was extra special since this event was voted Best Gala in Boston in 2019, we had to make sure we saved the best for last, as this was also the very last private event to be held at The Castle at Park Plaza. This year we celebrated famed Creative Movement Director of the Rolling Stones, Stephen Galloway, and worked the rock & roll meets Boston Ballet and black-tie Ball, it all elements of the evening. From custom leather linens from PEAK, to sexy and edgy floral designs in black and red from Winston Flowers to stunning painted plates of food from Max Ultimate, all of your senses were delighted and fantastical lighting and stage design from Boston Ballet themselves…I mean who thought you could line the stage in red marley for our dance performances!  It truly pulled the rock and roll theme out throughout the entire room.

It is remarkable to watch the trucks pull up and the crews arrive 4 days prior to event day to begin transforming the Castle, building trusses, flying hundreds of moving lights in the air, draping the entire space, creating a full stage and backdrop – the only semblance that we are still in the castle is Mr. & Mrs. Saunders pictured high above “overseeing” every piece of it.

Not only did guests enjoy artfully designed food and drink, including black sea salt and sugar rimmed signature cocktails and candy apple dipped fois gras lollipops, but they also were treated to 3 amazing performances specifically choreographed for this one night only Ball and to cap this off…a dance party like none other – including many of our principle dancers from Boston Ballet!

As custom ball gowns mixed with spicy and sultry rock & roll attire, our friends at Tiffany & Co. helped raise over $2M, far surpassing their hopes for the evening!  I only hope guests buy their tickets early for 2021, as this year’s ball was fully sold out 3 months prior…making sure everyone was ready to rock n’ roll all night long…and that is just what we did!!
