Two Events, Same Location

From the desk of: Arianna Fiorentini

November 2024, we produced two non-profit events in the same space: SoWa Power Station.

What I love about SoWa is that you can truly transform the venue into anything to fit your client’s needs and wants. It really is one giant blank slate.

First up was the Joslin Diabetes High Hopes gala for about 350 guests. The theme was having “The Right Stuff” to enhance the lives of those living with diabetes and celebrate the advancements in the diabetes world. We kept the design very minimal, architectural, linear, and of course, white!

Technology in the space was a must so we had to have beakers and test tubes on the tabletop and have a conveyor belt that sent around our signature cocktail which changed colors.

The client wanted the space to feel very intimate – so we created white scrim walls to tighten the space and these also doubled as really cool areas for projection.

Later that month was the Italian Consulate’s Festival of Italian Creativity. Weeklong programs to celebrate Italian culture, innovation, and creativity led up to the gala that AE produced for 700 guests.

The client wanted the space to feel like an Italian trattoria and we accomplished this look with rustic chairs, colorful linens, gorgeous floral with citrus fruits, prosciutto from Italy, and a parmesan wheel! Of course we had to utilize the space differently as this event guest count was basically double. We kept the space very open, minimal draping to really leave room for sight-lines for guests.

If November taught us anything, it’s that here at AE Events, we’re always putting the client’s wishes at the forefront and that it is always possible to reimagine a space.
