Wedding Bells and Business Cards: A Wedding Planner's Journey Down the Aisle
From the desk of: Kelsey Binder
As a wedding planner, I've had the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold, each one as unique as the last. However, there's one story that I'm currently immersed in — my own. Being engaged while working in the wedding industry has offered me an incredibly unique perspective, blending professional expertise with personal vision as I navigate the intricate process of planning my own wedding with my fiancé, Mat.
Balancing the roles of bride and wedding planner has been both exhilarating and challenging (in a good way!). On one hand, my experience in the industry provides me with valuable insights and resources. On the other hand, there's a certain level of pressure to create a wedding that not only exceeds professional standards but also reflects Mat’s and my visions and desires for the event. While my professional background has equipped me with the tools to bring this vision to life, there's an added layer of emotion and personal investment that comes with planning your own wedding.
The best part about being a wedding planner and bride is the knowledge that “wedding planner me” can bestow upon “bride me” when things get overwhelming. It’s something I’ve told couples countless times before. Amidst the hustle and bustle of wedding planning, it's important to pause and savor the journey. From the excitement of saying "yes," to the dress, to the joy of selecting the perfect playlist together, each of these moments is a cherished chapter in Mat’s and my story. While there may be moments of stress and overwhelm, there's also an abundance of love, laughter, and anticipation that reinvigorates us as we countdown to our wedding day.
In the midst of planning my own wedding, I'm reminded of the beauty and complexity of love's journey. As a bride and a wedding planner, I'm grateful for the opportunity to merge these two roles and create a celebration that is both professionally executed and deeply meaningful. And as we eagerly anticipate the day when we say "I do," I'm filled with gratitude for the love, support, and unwavering commitment that surrounds us on this incredible journey… we are just at the beginning but can’t wait to see what January 2025 brings!
