Move Aside 2020, Here Comes 2021!

From the desk of: Christine Altieri

Is there anyone that isn’t jumping for joy that 2020 is coming to an end and enthusiastically welcoming 2021?!  To say the least, it has been an enormously difficult year; including a raging pandemic, an election that demonstrated our country’s lingering divisiveness, overwhelming destruction from fires, a historic number of hurricanes and the longest food lines since the Depression, all bearing down hard on our economy and fellow citizens.  Sadly, too many of us are facing unprecedented challenges.

For me, as the eternal optimist and professional event planner, I have dug deep to find ways to try and make “lemonade out of lemons”.  Might there be some positive and constructive experiences and outcomes that evolved out of the losses and devastation from 2020?   Here are a few of my thoughts.

To begin, on March 9, 2020 the event world came to a crashing halt… as event planning specialists, we could have wrung our hands and put our heads in the sand; but with incredible effort and resilience, we stayed relevant and figured out ways to help our clients reinvent and replace many of their original plans.  Our team dove in, learned new skills, and embraced technology that ultimately and successfully transformed our client’s events!

What pride I have in our crew – At AE Events our team displayed incredible strength of character – we took care of each other, helped and listened to one another, and grew and  challenged each other to increased levels of collaboration, expertise and camaraderie!

Micro Weddings – Jessica, Senior Event and Operations Manager, proved love cannot be cancelled – she and her husband Adam said “I do” on 10/10/20!

Newborns announced – congratulations to so many happy friends and clients with new babies – with special mention to “Lauren at the Ballet “!

Election – more people in the US voted this year than any year in history.  All of us can be proud that we made our voices heard and demonstrated our most important constitutional right!

Community – During this year’s most difficult times, my community, event partners, colleagues and peers, reached out with concern and offers of support and comfort.  We came together in extraordinary ways and for that I am grateful!

Profound Admiration – This year, we recognized more fully the sacrifice and relentless efforts by our dedicated heroes – medical staff, truck and bus drivers, first responders, grocery store personnel, mailpersons, to name a few.  Our eyes are wide open to the value they bring to all of us everyday.  Thank you, Superheroes!

2020 will be a year emblazoned in our memories with heartbreaks and misfortunes but also with the enormous outpouring of compassion, understanding, and humanity.  As a country we have a lot of rebuilding and restoring to do.

As a company, we are enthusiastic to continue transforming and reorganizing our skills and strategies to meet the interests of our valued clients!

Welcome 2021 – We’re ready for all the opportunities and challenges of the New Year!
