Dinner Under The Stars, A Micro Wedding Tale
From the desk of: Phoebe Allen
The word of the year for 2020 was pivot, but in the wedding world the word evolved into micro over the months of Fall 2020 till Spring 2021. Micro weddings were the new “it" thing to do. Our wedding couples were over postponing and people just wanted to say I do and celebrate, no matter the size of the party! We were on board with this 100% and were thrilled to participate in many micro weddings. We still had the ability to send our happy couples down the aisle (socially distant of course!). The first Micro Wedding that really came to fruition was Nancy and Nate, one of the kindest couples! They stuck with us through all the ups and downs that Covid threw our way, and did it with grace and smiles the whole time.
Their final wedding date was the perfect fall Saturday; October 24th, 2020, but it took a lot to get there… We first met with the couple back in fall of 2019 and began helping them bring their dream wedding to life, what was supposed to be June 2020. The couple met at the Middlesex School in Concord back in high school, so what better place to celebrate their wedding than where it all began! We had a design plan to transform the school cafeteria for the reception, it gave us major 21st century Hogwarts vibes, a very cool space! And then their ceremony would take place on campus as well, in the chapel for the school. Truly such a unique setting for a wedding.
However, as one might have guessed, Covid changed the course of our plans and we re-imagined the whole day from start to finish.
The couple still wanted to incorporate the school somehow so we kept the wedding ceremony on site at the chapel but moved the reception (then 200 guests, and now 12!) to the Saltbox Farm across the street. Saltbox was such an amazing vendor to partner with throughout the whole process. They let us use their land to set up the most beautiful reception tent with a tasting menu fit for kings and queens. Each detail of the night was placed with a purpose, from the lanterns lining the tent, to the hanging floral chandeliers, to the homemade jam that Nancy’s mom made as favors, and even the hand sanitizer station.
All in all the night was pure perfection. Ceremony at the chapel, photos throughout campus, dinner under the stars, a farm to table dinner, and a dance party. What more could you want? We felt very lucky to help bring this wedding to life.
