In The (Moons and) Stars...
From the desk of: Phoebe Allen
Mitzvahs are unique. Why? Because we really get to go all out on a theme and in some way, we get to be a kid again :)
This Bat Mitzvah was no different… the guest of honor did not want an ordinary theme that had been done before. No, she wanted her friends to know her theme right from the start.
It was decided we would have a Galaxy theme! We were not just focusing on planets and outer space, but adding in the moons and stars, creating a beautiful color pallet with the that went beyond! Our goal was to fill the space with lights, moody colors, and incorporate the moons and stars wherever we could.
We had a blast designing the room - we chose dark sequined and textured linen for the tables. This did not feel like a floral type of event, so each table had its own unique tablescape made out of orbs! Some lit up, some were colorful and some changed color which made it a fun interactive experience for the guests sitting at the tables.
In my mind we had two main attractions:
1. The first was our escort card display. We rented a wooden moon shaped panel from Refined Rentals and covered it with our custom moon shaped escort cards.
2. The second was our hanging disco ball (mirror ball) piece over the dance floor. Each time the light hit any ball it lit up the room in a truly amazing way.
Now, you can’t have a mitzvah without some sort of actives and again, we wanted to be in theme. We had an astrology reader who would read your birth chart based on the starts and the moon on your birthday. And we also had a glitter tattoo artist who made all our guests exquisite glitter art pieces.
The theme was seen throughout our print pieces all the way down to our non-alcoholic signature moon drink. It was a blast to plan and we hope the photos below show it!
