We don't just plan events, we support communities

From the desk of: Christine Altieri

Don’t blink because as usual the summer flies by too fast. Enjoy the last remaining weeks!

Two weeks ago, all of us at AE Events were preparing for a very busy fall!  Fast forward to today, and it feels a bit like Groundhog Day.  The current circumstances of the pandemic are compelling employers to re-think opening dates which are impacting and resulting in the cancellation of some of our planned Welcome Back corporate and non-profit events. Non-Profits are also naturally expressing concerns about arrangements for their upcoming fundraising galas. Fortunately, we mostly planned for hybrid events, allowing transitions to be much smoother than in 2020.  AE Events staff were also brimming with enthusiasm for a much anticipated return to on-site events. Needless to say, they are experts at situational adaptation and will capably PIVOT!

Our main goal is to help our clients meet the demands of their customers, donors, overall business objectives, with the ultimate goal of improving revenue and making a difference, regardless of the current state of affairs.

I have a particular concern and appreciation for the pandemic’s impact on students and youth.  They have had to make many adjustments over a prolonged period of time attempting to learn in unfamiliar ways.  How adults help our youth move forward under these circumstance is crucial and a responsibility I accept wholeheartedly.

I’m happy to share with you, for the past 5 years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a board member at Brighter Boston.  Brighter Boston recognizes that many teenagers feel like they have a very limited role to play in society and are apprehensive about their futures.  Brighter Boston helps to provide teens with a paid opportunity that includes important responsibilities as well as the chance to learn critical skills. I have personally seen many teens rise to the challenge and meet success working backstage at theater and concerts. The teens are able to work hard, practice communication and leadership skills in areas of technology and art.  The organization helps to provide teens with significant opportunities that quite simply achieve huge personal outcomes.

This week Brighter Boston completed its Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 two week training program for interns.  15 interns, working at the organization Zuma,  produced a music video for the band, OceanZ, at the beloved and historic Strand Theater. With the help of mentors from Brighter Boston, the students ran the show from lighting and sound to producing the video.  After the show, one student commented excitedly “ I cannot believe I just produced a music video!” with a smile that went from ear to ear.  All 15 students have jobs waiting for them in September, including at Live Nation, Huntington Theater, AVFX, Port Lighting, High Output, A.R.T…..and the list goes on.

These happy faces are confirmation that the work being done is a success.

This valuable investment in our youth doesn’t happen without the awareness, commitment and funding from donors and partners.  Brighter Boston is a small organization with a simple but effective strategy that is really working! I respectfully invite and ask you to consider making a donation to the organization by clicking on the link below. Thank you!
